Sale of groceries on OMR

SHOLINGANALLUR: On the 2nd of every month, traders who work directly with cooperatives sell their produce on the pavement, in OMR. Sholinganallur, just before the Aavin factory. “It’s a regular sandhai-like sale,” says Raja, who handles the sales.

Produce includes rice, pulses, chillies, and millets, groundnuts, and spices. The rates vary and while some are equal to or less than the retail rate, others seem higher.

The produce is sold from 10 am to sundown on the left side of the pavement, going south, just before the Aavin Junction.
