Water supply to be cut for desal plant maintenance

Due to maintenance work at the Nemmeli Desalination Plant, water supply to areas in South Chennai will be disrupted on Saturday, September 16.

All areas that receive water from the plant are likely to face stoppage. Metrowater urged people to store sufficient water to tide over the day. Parts of Perungudi and Sholinganallur receive water from the plant, according to the release from Metrowater.

Most water for OMR does not come from the desalination plant, the effect on the stretch is expected to be minimal. Private tankers, however, may be busier than usual.
