Chennai Metro Phase-II work to begin

The construction of Phase-I of the Chennai Metro is nearing completion and authorities are keen to begin work for Phase-II, which will connect large parts of OMR with the city. A feasibility report for the same has been submitted to the Centre.

Land acquisition for the same is being undertaken. Phase- II will include the following lines:

Corridor 3: Madhavaram to Sholinganallur: via Perambur, Nungambakkam, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Palavakkam, and Injambakkam

Corridor 4: CMBT (Koyambedu) to Light House.

Corridor 5: Madhavaram to Siruseri:  via Villivakkam, Padi, Nerkundram, Alwarthirunagar, Alandur, Puzhuthivakkam, Medawakkam and Kailash Nagar

The lines are expected to be completed by 2026, according to the feasibility report.
