TIRUVANMIYUR: Chennai Traffic Police will implement traffic diversions from Friday, July 28, on a trial basis, to tackle the traffic congestion in the TIDEL/Ascendas/SRP Tools stretch.
UPDATE: Vehicles will be allowed to come from CSIR Road (Ascendas Road) to move on to Tiruvanmiyur. Also, following representation from residents, vehicles coming from Madhya Kailash are now allowed to ply on the main road, and not the service lane. The one-way service lane between TIDEL Park and Ramanujam IT City is also being reevaluated, said traffic police.
The bottlenecks in the traffic, i.e., the service road in front of TIDEL Park, as well as the right turn to go into Ascendas, will both be modified. According to the new rules:
1. The service road in front of TIDEL park, which is now two way, will become a one-way, towards Madhya Kailash.
2. Right turn will not be allowed from OMR on to the Ascendas Road (CSIR Road). Vehicles will have to take a U-Turn at SRP Tools junction.
3. Similarly, right turn will not be allowed from Ascendas Road (CSIR Road) to OMR. Vehicles have to ply left towards TIDEL and take a U-Turn to reach SRP Tools and beyond.
The new restrictions will likely cause confusion for a couple of days, following which it will become a matter of routine, says an IT professional working at Ascendas.
