“If residents see any neighbouring water body in danger, we urge them to contact us,” said V. Rama Rao, one of the founders of the Chennai Metropolitan Area Water Bodies and Waterways Rejuvenation Forum. “It could be anything, from encroachments to illegal dumping.”
The organization recently held a seminar “Waterbodies and Water Scarcity” at Sri Ayyappan Temple Dhyana Mandapam in Madipakkam.
OMR is close to several lakes, some of which have disappeared, Rama Rao said. The organization has rejuvenated 35 water bodies in and around Chennai.
